Biography

Rashed's research interest is in nuclear physics, with expertise in radiation measurement and shielding. Concentrating on the issue of protection from space radiation and heavy ion cancer therapy, he has extensively studied heavy ion (nucleus-nucleus) interactions using CR-39 nuclear track detectors and focused on the theoretical and experimental discrepancies of results obtained in different nucleus-nucleus interactions. He also performs Monte Carlo calculations using PHITS for his research in radiation physics. He is also focused on establishing an environmental radiation monitoring station for Bangladesh.

He earned his Doctor of Engineering (Ph.D.) from the University of Fukui, Japan, where his doctoral work was conducted at the Research Institute of Nuclear Engineering (RINE). His thesis involved measuring heavy ion interactions using CR-39 nuclear track detectors.
